Interestingly, too, it’s been said the ride height was adjusted to better meet federal headlight height requirements. This Pre-L is presented in unrestored, original condition and is believed to have only covered 1,574 miles from new. With the car cloaked in in red, the original Pantera Campagnolo magnesium wheels show beautifully, wrapped here with the original tires, and the chrome bumperettes wink like slivers on crisp edges. Up front, a stunning polished mesh grille is situated between the bumpers, while out back quad Anza pipes dictate the symphony. The interior features the original black upholstery and accessories like the radio and gauges. Powered by a 351 CI Cleveland V-8 engine and 5-speed transmission, Panteras were well equipped with power steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes, power windows and air conditioning. With such originality, this Pantera is a true gem and a rare find sporting its original interior, glass and engine components, but the seller does admit to having installed new cooling system hoses. On offer by its fourth owner, the car is complete with a Marti Report, miscellaneous information sheets and the original owner’s manual. Designed by Tom Tjaarda while working at Ghia, the Pantera offered people handsomely exotic styling and the performance of a world-class exotic sports car at a fraction of the cost. The midmounted Ford engine offered spectacularly reliable performance with effortless power, while the midengine chassis design allowed for unmatched handling. The entire package delivered a driving experience like few others. Finding an original Pre-L is often considered akin to spotting the Loch Ness Monster, and this is one sighting you won’t want to miss.
