Description

1972 Mini Innocenti This little Coupe is Hot! Red and dressed to play! We have the original wheels and additional 2nd Carburetor as these Innocentis were performance driven with dual carbs when built originally. We also have the original set of wheels that will also be included with the sale. This is a great running little car that gets thumbs way up anywhere it goes. Love the historical side of the Innocenti line up as well as the association with one of car idols; Alejandro de Tomaso that we credit for the world known Pantera.Innocenti was an Italian machinery works originally established by Ferdinando Innocenti in 1920. Over the years they produced Lambretta scooters and, most notably, Mini's from 1965 until 1975 under license from British Leyland. Although the sales of Innocenti's second only behind Fiat in the early 1970's a new manager was put in charge and at the end of his three year tenure in 1975 the company was purchased out of near bankruptcy in February 1976, by Alejandro de Tomaso and was reorganized by the De Tomaso Group under the name Nuova Innocenti. The Innocenti 1300 Export models are rare and this example was produced in the last month of production (January, 1975) before the Innocenti plant was closed. Prior to developing the Mini 90 / 120 hatchback variants of the Mini, Innocenti undertook assembly of the original Mini design using CKD kits.[1] Introduced in November 1965 as the Innocenti Mini 850, later versions included the 1001, the Cooper, the Cooper 1300 and the Mini T, the latter being an estate car and the only non-saloon variant produced.[1] Assembly ceased in early 1975.[1] Only the very earliest Minis were built using CKD kits. Most of the production was built using shells and components that were locally sourced. The Innocenti Mini shells differ in many ways from contemporary English built ones.
