He was widely known as "il Commendatore" or "il Drake". In his final years he was often referred to as "l'Ingegnere" or "il Grande Vecchio (the Great Old Man)". Ferrari started searching for a job in the car industry. He unsuccessfully volunteered his services to FIAT in Turin, eventually settling for a job as test-driver for C.M.N. (Costruzioni Meccaniche Nazionali), a Milan-based car manufacturer. He was later promoted to race car driver and made his competitive debut in the 1919 Parma-Poggio di Berceto hillclimb race. Ferrari himself continued racing until 1932, before he left Alfa Romeo to found Scuderia Ferrari. The prancing horse emblem was created when Italian fighter pilot Francesco Baracca was shot down during World War I. Baracca gave Enzo Ferrari a necklace with the prancing horse on it prior to takeoff. Baracca was tragically shot down and killed. In memory of his death, Enzo Ferrari used the prancing horse to create the emblem that would become the world famous Ferrari shield. It was not until 1947 that the shield was first seen on a Ferrari. This was the birth of an icon " Ferrari". The Ferrari 360 is a two-seater sports car built by Ferrari from 1999 to 2005. It succeeded the Ferrari F355 and was replaced by the Ferrari F430. It is a mid-engined, rear wheel drive V8-powered coupe.Ferrari partnered with Alcoa to produce an entirely new all aluminium space-frame chassis that was 40% stiffer than the F355 which had utilized steel. The design was 28% lighter despite a 10% increase in overall dimensions. Along with a lightweight frame the new Pininfarina body styling deviated from traditions of the previous decade's sharp angles and flip-up headlights. The new V8 engine, common to all versions, utilizes a 3.6 litre capacity, flat plane crankshaft, titanium connecting rods and generates 395 bhp (294 kW, 400 PS). Our vehicle is one of 186 built black (NERO) code 1250 with a 6 speed stick out of a total production of 7565, only a small portion of which were built US compatible. The Nero paint shines with a deep luster and is in excellent condition. The leather interior is in excellent condition with no sticky dash and little wear on the driver's seat. The canvas top is in excellent condition, the rear plastic window is clear and blemish free and the electric top mechanism works as it should. Walking around our 360 has a worthy interior of supple leather, high-quality materials and straightforward ergonomics struck an excellent balance between luxury and driving-focused simplicity. The snug seats offer plenty of lateral support, with a comfortable reach to the divine steering wheel. Besides contributing to superb road-holding, the 360's wide body also provided lots of elbow room . Enough space for a set of golf clubs behind the two seats ! And really........ what's the point of a country club if you can't show off your Ferrari?
